Once, Pee-Wee asked Globey a question (I think- the exact exchange eludes me) and his reply is the main line from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse that I still say:

“Not me, Pee-Wee. I’m just a globe!”

As a kid I loved all things Pee-Wee: the show, the movies, his early cable special, all of it! I’m 50 now, and I still love it all.

After we saw Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure at the theater (my brother launched the popcorn tub straight up when Large Marge showed her true face) we talked like Pee-Wee for at least a month. It drove my evil-stepmother (that is not hyperbole- most of the time she made Cinderella’s stepmother seem nice and sane) absolutely crazy.

In one of her “let’s show all our friends how happy and normal our family is” moments, she actually threw us a Pee-Wee Party. We all wore bow ties, ate ice cream soup, had a Word of the Day, and played Pin the Bow Tie on Pee-Wee. What was the Word of the Day? Seems like it was “off”…

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

I think like we also rented the movie on VHS and watched it- every kid talking and laughing like Pee-Wee the whole time.

Personal History Note: My future wife (who was probably 9 or 10 at the time) was there, and I spent a lot of the party trying to “accidentally” end up next to her. She was so cute!

I love this story, thanks for sharing such great memories!! I never got to see Pee Wee's Big Adventure in theatres sadly. I saw it on VHS and absolutely fell in love with the film. I could basically recite it all at one point lol. I still try to include Tell'm Large Marge sent ya in a conversation every once in a while 🤣

My favorite character was William Marshall as the King of Cartoons. ❤️

Ha! So awesome, can never forget the crown and outfit. I also remember watching the Blacula films in the early 80s, such a talented actor!

He was also an opera singer. Blacula is still one of my favorite movies. I always wanted to make it into a musical and modern it up a bit. It plays out like a classic tragedy

I loved Pee-Wee's Playhouse as a kid. Haven't watched it since, but I do recall dressing up as him one Halloween.

Right on!! Such an iconic character. I wish I would see someone dressed as Pee Wee for Halloween nowadays!!
