Have People Lost Their Sense Of Humor on Social Media?

First, let’s kick June off with this amazing piece of nostalgia brought to you by one of the most dangerous pieces of playground equipment!
Social Media Can Be A Bummer
Last week I posted this image with the following caption:
Grocery shopping in the 80s — the entire cart cost only $10 😜
I mean I even included the sarcastic/jk emoji face! But from out of the woodwork and the dark regions of social media, there came an onslaught of comments like, “bs”, “yeah but you have to also account for income”, and my favorite, “Yeah because milk bottles had the plastic seals in the 80s.” SMH— what is wrong with some people?
This post was obviously a joke, but it just seems like things are getting tenser on social apps. Too many uptight people. Why is that?
Obviously I use the restrict/block features very liberally more so today than ever, and I hate doing that, but if you can’t enjoy a joke where the heck are we going as a society?!
Remember when you could buy milk from a dispenser machine back in the day?
Why Marvel Star Jeremy Renner Walked Away From Major Franchise, Makes Official Statement
I don’t know about you guys but the Mission Impossible films have been a favorite of mine for years. They were John Wick mixed with Jason Bourne and MacGyver thrown in. People can say what they want about Tom Cruise, but I can’t think of anyone else that can hold a franchise like that together as well considering his superstar status and longevity in Hollywood.
Jeremy Renner was always one of my favorite characters (William Brandt) —
Brandt was assigned by the IMF to protect Ethan Hunt and his wife Julia in Croatia. After his team failed to do this and Julia was allegedly killed, Brandt asked to be removed from field duty, due to not wanting to go through a life-or-death situation again. Brandt then became Chief Analyst to the Secretary of the IMF. He became a field agent again after a new mission with Ethan Hunt and his team. (Source)
In an interview with Collider a few days ago, Jeremey said this:
“I had to leave that. I was supposed to do more with them. I love those guys. I love Tom [Cruise] so much. We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot. It requires a lot of time away. It’s all in London. I had to go be a dad. It just wasn’t gonna work out then.”
Renner welcomed his daughter, Ava, in 2013, with his ex wife, Sonni Pacheco, in and it was important for him to be there for her. He wanted to be an active part of her life. i totally get that. Having four kids, believe me, I understand the sacrifices that need to be made with your career to be present. Renner also disclosed that he would jump at the chance to return to the franchise today if he were asked because his daughter is no older.
TANGENT: 80s Movie Villains We Hated
Anyone else remember Mr. Igoe from Innerspace? The character was played by none other than Vernon Wells. Yup, the same dude that played the villains in Road Warrior and Commando!
There’s a scene in the movie where he pops a child’s balloon for no reason— if that doesn’t make you hate this guy, I don’t know what will! Honestly, for years I thought he wasn’t human at all in this film— thought he was a cyborg! 😆
